Amber + John | A Funky, Modern Wedding at The Atrium on Tenth in Columbia, Missouri
John and Amber’s funky, modern wedding is hands-down one of the most personal weddings we’ve ever helped execute. They exchanged their vows at the Boone County Amphitheater and partied with their loved ones at The Atrium on Tenth, a modern, urban wedding venue located in the heart of Columbia, Missouri. Amber and John chose a wedding palette composed of white, cream, navy, and gold, and we loved the subtle Hawaiian details found within the attire of some groomsmen, the celestial motifs within the bride’s and flower girl’s attire, and personal details like typewriters and engagement photos sprinkled throughout the reception space.
One thing that I always tell couples is that you cannot quite plan for absolutely every scenario. The day before, there was a chance of rain in the forecast for the ceremony time, and after consulting with the couple, I said we could make a decision on the wedding day. We decided to move forward with an outdoor ceremony as the weather showed great weather all day long. About one to two hours before the ceremony would start, the forecast changed, predicting possible rain storms; however, we decided to move forward with plans. John and Amber along with their guests were incredible sports when a monsoon blew through during their ceremony. Umbrellas came out, laughs were heard, and the entire celebration was jubilant.

HIGHLIGHTS
John has his roots in Louisiana, so Amber cooked up something very special for him. She decided to surprise him with a traditional, New Orleans Second Line. With feathery parasols and white handkerchiefs in hand, the entire wedding paraded down Walnut street in celebration of the newlyweds. It was such a fun, exciting way to lead the entire wedding from their ceremony location to the reception.
Rather than cut a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted to break a piñata together. This piñata was filled with adorable koozies, stickers, and temporary tattoos of their beloved pets. It was a great way to open up the dance floor.
We absolutely loved their guest book! They opted for a phone guest book, which was a cute, blue phone that allowed guests to pick up the receiver and record a message for the couple.
We provided Event & Design Management services for John and Amber, which included attending a variety of planning meetings, creating a detailed timeline, partnering with vendors to determine design details, plan logistics, facilitating the rehearsal, managing their wedding day, and so much more. We wish this amazing couple the most blessed marriage. Thank you both for inviting Plan it Terra to be part of your special day.

Hey, I’m Terra!
Born and raised in Missouri, I’m a grateful wife and dog mom to my rescue pups, Hildi & Lola. I’m a true believer in the pursuit of bold dreams, learning from mistakes, and staying curious.
I'm a girl that lives in her Chacos during the summer, and I'm typically always wearing lipstick. Yes, red is my preference! When I'm not helping engaged couples plan weddings, you'll find me on stage teaching Jazzercise classes. Needless to say, creating engaging experiences that leave people feeling good afterwards is my passion. Seriously!
I’ve created this blog and my wedding packages to empower you to plan an awesome wedding day and put all of the stress and obligations straight into the dumpster! Now that sounds like a party.
