Engagement: Margaret + Beau
I’ve known Margaret for quite some time; she’s a fellow wedding planner with a sweet spirit who loves all things sweet, lovely, and genuine. I was beyond ecstatic when Margaret reached out to me about helping her wrap up final details of her upcoming August wedding. When Margaret talks about Beau and their upcoming wedding, her eyes literally light up. Her and Beau are planning an intimate wedding, with their ceremony being held at Faith Lutheran Church and their reception at The Millbottom, located in Jefferson City, Missouri. I cannot wait for their wedding!
I asked Margaret and Beau a few questions about them and the planning process so far; check out their responses below!
But first … check out these AMAZING images from their engagement session that were taken by the lovely fine artist photographer, Kelsi Kliethermes Photography.
How did Beau propose?
Beau planned the PERFECT day! Since he was proposing to someone who works in weddings (and a hopeless romantic), he knew the stakes were pretty high. The day started with my high school best friend asking me to get lunch together after I got off work. This set the stage for a total surprise proposal. Erin and I were going to go for a walk, but she asked if we could stop by Trinity (the school Beau and I met at) to drop something off. I didn't think anything of it because she helps out with their youth group, so we headed in. When we walked in the building, Beau and I's middle school teachers were there with a note from Beau saying that today would be "the day", and a certificate to get my nails done.
From there Erin and I went to our high school where some of the teachers Beau and I love were waiting with another note, then to our church where my cousin did my hair. I wasn't sure how Beau would pull off taking me back to our college years (we went to school in Springfield), but when Erin and I arrived at my house, my three best friends from college were there to greet me and help me pick out my outfit.
The last stop was the Millbottom, which Beau had decorated with old photos and flowers in my favorite colors. He had a photographer there ready to capture the moment he dropped down to one knee, and then all the emotions after.
Even after all that, the surprises didn't stop. After sometime to soak in all the newly engaged joy, our families came in to celebrate with us, and suddenly my brother (who is stationed in North Carolina in the Marines) walked through the door. Soon all of our closest friends and family joined us for an engagement party. After celebrating with all of our friends and family, the evening ended with fireworks out at my farm.
How did you meet?
Beau and I actually met when he came to my school in third grade, but it wasn't until middle school that we really started becoming friends. We started dating in the eighth grade, so we're pretty excited to be getting married eight years later.
What are three words to describe the feel of your upcoming wedding?
Colorful, fun, and much anticipated!
Do you have any advice for recently engaged brides to help them stay stress-free throughout the planning process?
Hire vendors you feel confident in and like! When you trust your vendors, it will take such a weight off your shoulders.
So far, what aspect of planning your wedding been the most fun?
Seeing how excited everyone else has been honestly has been a blast. The support from our friends and family makes me feel confident not only will we have a wonderful wedding, but a successful marriage.
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
I'm just excited for every aspect about our wedding: seeing each other for the first time, celebrating with all of our friends and families, and finally being married. We've been dreaming of this day since we were just kids, so there's a lot of anticipation around it!
What made you decide to hire a planner?
As a wedding planner myself, I knew that while I'd like to do everything myself, that isn't really feasible. I know the value that planner brings to the table by taking the stress of the couple and their families the day-of, so I couldn't not hire one!
