This celebration was the first of it’s kind for the Plan it Terra team; this was a one-year anniversary celebration for Katie and Andrew. It was an incredibly thoughtful and beautiful reception, and a beautiful way to gather with friends and family, celebrating the first year of marriage.

Katie and Andrew hosted their reception at Blue Bell Farm, an outdoor wedding venue located outside of Columbia, Missouri. Their theme was Kentucky Derby, which allowed the creative team to have lots of fun with the design and decor. Plenty of horse motifs were tastefully styled into various spaces such as the lounges. Sugarberry Blooms used trophies to design some of the floral arrangements. We loved this vibrant color palette, which was playful and colorful for spring.

The day began with Katie and Andrew taking portraits around Blue Bell Farm followed by family portraits. While this was happening, guests were arriving for a welcome cocktail hour, which yummy appetizers were passed and delicious drinks were enjoyed. The bride and groom welcomed their guests, and dinner was open, which featured three different food stations where guests could grab a plate whenever they were ready. Guests gathered to watch the race, and spent the evening dancing, playing games, and spending plenty of time enjoying the company of each other.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Rather than a bouquet for this 1 year anniversary celebration, Katie had a beautiful floral fastener designed for her Kentucky Derby look. It was absolutely adorable!

• This soiree was meant to keep guests moving, talking, and full! Pretty Little Things designed three complete lounge spaces, offering guests plenty of comfortable seating to sit and chat. We also planned on a variety of tables, which include full guest tables, high-top cocktail tables, and small, low rounds for more intimate gatherings. It was a great way to spread guests out on the entire Blue Bell Farm property.

• I can honestly say that I have never watched the Kentucky Derby before; however, we had a race showing inside the venue’s main space. It was high energy as all guests gathered around the projection screen, placing their bets in hopes of their jockey winning the race!

We provided Event Management & Design Support for Katie and Andrew, which included attending a variety of planning meetings, creating a detailed timeline, designing layout options, securing linens, managing their wedding day, and so much more.
