Katie + Brett | A Boho Inspired Wedding at Emerson Fields

Katie and Brett met back in 2018 at a July Fourth party that their mutual friends were hosting. The two chatted a bit during the party, parted ways, but Brett made sure to follow up via Facebook. They went on their first date a week later and were immediately dating. A few years later, Brett mustered up the courage to ask Katie for her hand in marriage.

Katie and Brett chose Emerson Fields, a beautiful wedding venue in Mid-Missouri, as the place to get married. Katie had heard about the venue through a friend, so she immediately looked up Emerson Fields, falling in love with it immediately. Katie and Brett hosted their wedding ceremony outside with the venue’s pond as their backdrop. The reception followed inside the main all-white venue space.

We asked Katie “What made you choose to work with Plan it Terra? Why did that matter to you?”

Katie started off the wedding day getting ready upstairs inside Emerson Fields’ Bridal Suite. This little suite had ample lighting for the hair and makeup crew to get the ladies ready for the day. We love working with Uplifted Salon as their team brings so much fun and energy to a wedding day. Downstairs, Brett got ready inside the Groom’s Room, where the men hung out on the large sectional with plenty of beverages to keep them entertained.

While the VIPs relaxed and had fun, the vendor team was hard at work setting up this beautiful boho-inspired wedding. Pretty Little Things curated beautiful lounges and tablescapes, partnering with florist extraordinaire, Sugarberry Blooms, to complete each area with colorful blooms. The team had a lot of fun styling and designing this wedding due to the unique color palette selected by the couple. Our crew assisted with the smaller details like setting napkins and prepping things for the reception dinner.

This August wedding was certainly hot, but it didn’t stop Katie and Brett from doing their First Look outside. Katie looked like a million bucks, and the flower lace perfectly matched her floral earrings. These two are such sweethearts; can you tell? Katie cannot stop laughing and smiling throughout the entire day! At the First Look, the two read personal vows to each other before taking some portraits and then joining their wedding party for additional photos. Once finished, the couple took family portraits so that they could spend the evening celebrating with all of their guests.

Katie and Brett wanted a casual but fun dinner, so they hired three food trucks to provide food services for this event. Many of the food trucks arrived close to the time of the ceremony, so our team split into two groups to well support the event. I led a team to prepare for the ceremony while Zoe led the second team to prep for the reception and oversee dinner and beverage service.

The wedding ceremony was beautiful and sweet, officiated by one of the couple’s really close friends. Emerson Fields’ pond was a stunning backdrop for this sweet couple. After the ceremony, our crew corralled the bride, groom, and their wedding party inside the venue’s foyer while we quickly worked with High Class DJs to seat guests as we were not having a cocktail hour. As soon as Katie’s dress was bustled, the group made their grand entrance.

Rather than doing any formalities immediately, dinner started. This went so smoothly, I was so excited! The food trucks offered guests a variety of options such as Mexican and Cajun. When designing this wedding, we decided to create a “food court” style area for the food trucks to setup, and we included tables, chairs, and extra lighting to add a little thoughtfulness to this area. Once dinner was winding down, it was time for speeches. Katie’s dad, who was obviously so proud of his daughter, had a long, carefully written speech which included a song dedicated to her. Afterwards, the couple cut their cake and enjoyed some champagne. To conclude all of the formalities, the couple had their first dance as husband and wife and then danced with their parents in a joint dance.

Then, the party really got going! We love the photos of Katie wearing the cowboy hat; you can bet some Shania Twain was played. As the evening drew to a conclusion, guests were escorted outside so that Katie and Brett could have one final dance to the song “At Last” by Etta James. While they danced, our team setup a sparkler exit to send the newlyweds off!

We provided Event Management services, which included a variety of planning meetings, timeline development, a venue walkthrough, assistance with the layout, confirming final details with vendors, facilitating the rehearsal, managing their wedding day, and so much more.

We asked Katie, “What would you say to a couple who is thinking about booking us?”
