Emily + Mitch | A Red & White Classic Wedding at Capital Bluffs Event Center

These two hometown sweethearts celebrated their love this past summer. Emily & Mitch got married outside at the beautiful Mel Carnahan Memorial Garden in Jefferson City, Missouri. This venue is also known as the Governor’s Garden. Their guests were then invited to continue the celebration at Capital Bluffs Event Center, located just across the Missouri River Bridge.

Emily is a teacher, and she is incredibly organized and on-the-ball. However, she knew early on that she was needing to hire a planner. She said, “We wanted to enjoy the day. We wanted our families to enjoy the day, and we just wanted everything to go smooth(ly). We did not want to stress or get worked up about things, and I know this (a wedding coordinator) would help!

WE ASKED Emily, “what would you tell a couple who are thinking about booking us?”

Emily and her bridesmaids began the day at Capital Bluffs where their hair was styled and makeup was applied. We were so excited that Emily hired one of our favorite makeup artists, Erica Durnil, to provide makeup application services for the ladies. While the ladies got ready, Toni Wieberg and John Pattyson took their time styling flat lays. We love the custom invitations that Forget Not Paper designed for this wedding, and the flat lays look absolutely stunning. The invitations included a sketch of the Governor’s Garden, which is an iconic landmark in Jefferson City.

The bride’s mother and sister helped her get into her beautiful bridal gown, altered by JM Couturiere. From there, Emily did a bridesmaid reveal, and her bridesmaids were overjoyed to see Emily for the very first time dressed and ready. Once the men were ready, Emily met Mitch outside for their First Look, where they exchanged gifts. From there, the couple joined their bridal party on party bus downtown for photos.

The ladies wore stunning satin red dresses, which popped against the limestone of the Capitol building. The portrait session is so stunningly timeless. We cannot get over how beautiful everyone looked. While the couple took photos, the vendor team prepared for the ceremony at the Governor’s Garden. Eventually, it was time to start the ceremony. Leme Ensemble provided a string quartet, playing beautiful arrangements for this wedding. It was a warm, outdoor ceremony, but it was quick, sweet, and before we knew it, Mitch and Emily were married.

After the ceremony, the couple took family photos and then took some time to rest before making their grand entrance into the reception. While photos happened, guests made their way to Capital Bluffs to enjoy cocktail hour, which had plenty of delicious food and beverages.

Once the couple made their entrance into the reception, Emily and Mitch poured champagne at a champagne tower. Afterwards, the father of the bride welcomed all of their guests, thanking them for attending. Emily said a prayer before dinner, and everyone sat to enjoy amazing food provided by Peachtree Catering. Later in the reception, the two cut their wedding cake, speeches were given, and the couple danced with some of their loved ones. The rest of the evening was filled with plenty of laughter and lots of dancing.

We provided Month of Coordination services, which included a variety of planning meetings, timeline development, confirming final details with vendors, facilitating the rehearsal, managing their wedding day, and so much more.

WE ASKED Emily, “WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A COUPLE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT BOOKING US?”

Hey, I’m Terra!

Born and raised in Missouri, I’m a grateful wife and dog mom to my rescue pups, Hildi & Lola. I’m a true believer in the pursuit of bold dreams, learning from mistakes, and staying curious.

I'm a girl that lives in her Chacos during the summer, and I'm typically always wearing lipstick. Yes, red is my preference! When I'm not helping engaged couples plan weddings, you'll find me on stage teaching Jazzercise classes. Needless to say, creating engaging experiences that leave people feeling good afterwards is my passion. Seriously!

I’ve created this blog and my wedding packages to empower you to plan an awesome wedding day and put all of the stress and obligations straight into the dumpster! Now that sounds like a party.
