Spring Engagement at Forest Park | Ryan + Bridgette

From the very first conversation I had with Bridgette and Ryan, I KNEW that I had to work with these two to help plan and coordinate their wedding. They both have a big heart for dogs, and we both have a fondness for our pittie mixes. Ryan and Bridgette are both intentional individuals whose kindness is infectious and their courage to love boldly is apparent through both their actions and their words. These two will celebrate their marriage in June at Main Street Abbey, a stunning all-white chapel located just outside of Saint Louis, Missouri.

To learn more about why they chose their wedding venue and to read some of their advice for newly engaged couples, be sure to keep scrolling down.

Our team is excited to finalize their wedding day details, create their wedding day timeline, and be onsite to manage their wedding day. Many thanks to Claire Forrest Films for sharing these images with our team.

Tell me about how you and Ryan met.

In August of 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, Texas. Ryan took time off from the NAVY the night of the hurricane to head down from Virginia to help his cousins who were affected by the storm. In doing so, he was stuck outside the flooded city sleeping in his van. Bridgette found out about his situation from his Mother and decided to take action to help him. Bridgette offered to buy a hotel room for him so he could get some relief from the downpour. A few years later after Ryan decided to leave the NAVY and move back home he decided to reconnect with the woman who helped him weather the deadly storm.

Who proposed? Tell me about it!

Ryan took Bridgette (and Georgie our dog) to Forest Park on the 4th of July 2020. We sat at the top of the hill overlooking all the firework shows of the city. There was nobody around us because of Covid, so we had the entire place to ourselves. After the firework show (Bridgette thought it was the perfect opportunity to propose and was bummed it didn't happen) But then Ryan took Bridge down to the Muny and proposed under the beautiful lit chandelier at the Main Entrance. When Ryan pulled out the ring, his change from his pocket fell to the ground and went all over! The rest is history!

How did you pick your wedding venue?

It (Main Street Abbey) had the feel of being right and the location was perfect.

How did you find all of your vendors?

Honestly, I'm using a lot of the vendors from my previous engagement. You also recommended several of them :)

So far, what aspect of planning has been the most enjoyable?

For Bridge, it's spending extra time with my Mom. For Ryan, it's been the joy of seeing Bridge light up over all the excitement of the big day.

Do you have any advice for recently engaged couples?

Personally make not only "Me Time" to get a break but also take "Together Time" to destress and grow as a couple.

What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?

Getting to share one of the most memorable moments in our lives with our loved ones. We have little moments all throughout our lives where we say to ourselves "I wish I had this person I love here" and now we have the chance to have that time.

what are three words to describe the feel of your upcoming wedding?

Elegant, classy, and welcoming

What made you decide to hire a planner?

We both work a lot and need someone to keep us on track :)

Hey, I’m Terra!

Born and raised in Missouri, I’m a grateful wife and dog mom to my rescue pups, Hildi & Lola. I’m a true believer in the pursuit of bold dreams, learning from mistakes, and staying curious.

I'm a girl that lives in her Chacos during the summer, and I'm typically always wearing lipstick. Yes, red is my preference! When I'm not helping engaged couples plan weddings, you'll find me on stage teaching Jazzercise classes. Needless to say, creating engaging experiences that leave people feeling good afterwards is my passion. Seriously!

I’ve created this blog and my wedding packages to empower you to plan an awesome wedding day and put all of the stress and obligations straight into the dumpster! Now that sounds like a party.
