Engagement: Taylor + Wes

I am so excited to share this amazing engagement story and session with you! Taylor’s mom originally reached out to me this past January and from the moment we had our first conversation we knew this was going to be such a fun planning process! When I got the chance to speak with Taylor, it totally solidified the deal. I love someone who shares the same love of traveling, true crime, and shows like “West World.” Taylor and Wes are kind souls, and I know that their wedding celebration is going to be meaningful and sweet. I am looking forward to seeing their day come together this September in Jefferson City! They plan to host their wedding ceremony and reception at The Millbottom, a gorgeous industrial wedding venue.

I asked Taylor and Wes a few questions about them and the planning process so far; check out their responses below!

But first … check out these AMAZING images from their engagement session in Kona, Hawaii by the talented Dawn Eicher Photography!!

How did Wes propose?

We were on vacation in Marco Island, Florida and went on a sunset walk on the beach. Wes was acting a little nervous, so I knew something was up. He then told me he thought that he could see dolphins jumping in the ocean, so I looked where he pointed (there were no dolphins). I turned back around and he was down on one knee with a beautiful ring asking me to marry him!

How did you meet?

Wes and I met in our high school chemistry class when I was a junior and he was a senior. We became friends and a few months later we started dating! It's fun to see how much we have both changed since then and have continued to grow together! :)

So far, what aspect of planning the wedding has been the most enjoyable?

Sending out the save the dates! That step made our wedding more of a reality than just a vision. It was also exciting to send them to all our family and friends who are such a big part of our lives and our big day. Cake tasting was also really fun because we are both sweets people! :)

️Do you have any advice for recently engaged couples to help them stay stress-free throughout the planning process?

I would say to make sure to first take time to enjoy the engagement. We didn't jump right in to planning and instead took time to enjoy each other and this new milestone in our lives. We had so much fun taking engagement pictures and they are fun to look at when things get stressful. It's important to focus on the end result of being married and go with the flow whenever possible :)

What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?

We're most excited for the first look! We're looking forward to having a little bit of time with just each other before the ceremony. We've been together for 7 and half years, so the first look will really allow us to appreciate the time we've had together so far and start our future together as husband and wife.

What are three words to describe the feel of your upcoming wedding?

Fun, romantic, joyful!

What made you decide to hire a planner?

We wanted to have someone available to handle the day of our wedding to make sure everything runs smoothly. There are so many little details that go into planning, and we didn't want our family or us to have to worry about these things during the wedding. We want the day to be enjoyable! We're also both in dental school, so having someone to answer questions and help streamline our process is very valuable for our time.
