Jaylie + Braden | A Colorful, Spring Wedding at Hawthorne House
This was the most perfect wedding day to kick of the Plan it Terra 2023 wedding season. It was everything and more. It was sweet, personalized, beautiful, and meaningful. We were honored to be part of this day to celebrate the marriage of Jaylie and Braden. Not only that, but I was blessed by the couple as they truly went above and beyond to get to know me on a personal level (which included traveling to KC for an afternoon of board games). I’m so excited to share with you all about this amazing couple and their beautiful wedding day at Hawthorne House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Braden had a very thought-out plan when it came to asking for Jaylie’s hand in marriage, and he had to set up the day so nothing would be suspicious. Bradens’ plans included a coffee shop hop at 3 different locations followed by going to the arboretum, and finishing the day with a dinner with her friends. The big “Ask” happened during their visit to the aboretum. As the two walk through the aboretum, they come upon a bench that has flowers and a wire hung from the trees with pictures of the couple. Braden took Jaylie to the bench, gets on his knee to read a letter to her. Jaylie's hands shook as Braden put on the ring and she said "Yes"!
Jaylie + Braden chose the beautiful, timeless wedding venue, Hawthorne House, as the place to get married. This top rated wedding venue in Kansas City was picture-perfect for this sweet couple’s celebration. The pair exchanged their vows in front of their loved ones inside the venue’s classic chapel. Afterwards, the celebrated inside the Emerson Room, which is a large wedding reception hall adorned with gold Italian crystal chandeliers.
Jaylie and her bridesmaids began the day getting ready upstairs inside the venue’s bridal suite. The ladies wore matching pink pajamas as they cheerfully sat at the makeup bar working on their wedding day looks. Jaylie, in her all-white pajamas, got the bridal treatment as Hello Lovely KC worked on her hair and makeup. As the ladies got ready, our team began setup downstairs in the Emerson Room. We setup table numbers, signage, and the cake and dessert tables. We loved the “newspaper” Jaylie made for us to set at each guest place setting; the newspaper included the couple’s love story, a personal crossword puzzle, and questions for the Shoe Game, which the couple would play later on in the evening. Our team also went down to the chapel to setup signage, the guest book, and some signage details.
Braden and the groomsmen arrived later that morning to hang out in the groom’s suite at Hawthorne House. While the men and women got dressed for the day, RGKC Films + Elizabeth Ladean Photography captured bridal details and of the groups getting ready. Downstairs, Wild Hill Flowers + Events carefully worked to setup all of the wedding florals. We absolutely loved the tall, whimsical floral arrangements that were designed for both the ceremony altar and at the head table. Jaylie + Braden selected a playful palette that included dusty pink, white, yellow-centered flowers, and soft blue.
Jaylie’s wedding dress came from True Society by Belle Vogue. It was a darling A-line gown that included pockets. During alterations, Jaylie had cap-sleeves added to the gown. We loved how she tailored the gown to truly be hers! Before we knew it, it was time for the couple to have their First Look. We helped get them setup on the venue’s front porch where the two finally saw each other. They requested a very private first look, so we made sure that everyone was tucked away for this moment. Afterwards, the photo/video team took the couple across the lawn to the venue’s gazebo where Jaylie + Braden exchanged their personal vows.
The early afternoon was spent taking portraits around the property, and the team had a lot of fun. Jaylie + Braden are incredibly sweet, caring people and they are simply a joy to be around. The group took photos with their bridal party as well as with immediate family. Once portraits were finished, the group settled in a room beneath the chapel while the photo/video team captured ceremony and reception details. During this gap of time, our team worked with the officiant to prepare the marriage license, review through details with the DJ, and checked on catering. Everything was going so smoothly.
It was close to the ceremony time, so our team quickly got everyone lined up, and before long, Jaylie and Braden exchanged rings, vows, and sealed everything with a kiss. We absolutely loved their personalized wedding ceremony, which was officiated by their college minister, Jacob. The ceremony focused on the union of the couple and it stressed the importance of every guest to love, support, and care for Jaylie and Braden as they entered into a new stage as husband and wife. After the ceremony, our team made sure the marriage license was signed before we sent the bride and groom out the main doors where they were greeted by a bubble exit. It was so cute!
After the ceremony, the couple finished up some additional family photos and a portrait session on the lawn in front of the main venue. The evening immediately flowed from grand entrance to the couple’s first dance where they twirled and swayed to “Lifetime” by Justin Bieber. I literally could not help byt cry during their first dance, and Abby caught me on camera. From there, Jaylie & Braden received all of their guests at the buffet, which is becoming one of my new favorite touches. The rest of the evening included a shoe game, answers to their personalized crossword, speeches, parent dances, and a dance floor. Before the couple took off for the evening, they made their grand exit, which included cold sparks from Elite Events. We could not have asked for a more picture-perfect, personalized, and flawless wedding.
