Micayla + Cody | Sage Green with Pops of Blue Wedding at The Millbottom in Jefferson City, MO
Micayla + Cody made our entire team feel just like family, from the initial contact all the way to the actual wedding day. Their love is contagious, and they are so incredibly fun to be around. The Milbottom, an iconic wedding venue located in Jefferson City, was the perfect place for these two to celebrate their marriage. Micayla picked The Millbottom because it is naturally beautiful and the location was convenient since Cody is from Jefferson City, Missouri. Rain was originally forecasted for the day, but this April celebration turned into one of the most beautiful wedding days with plenty of sunshine and cloud coverage for photographs.
Upon my arrival to the venue, I checked in with the photography team to ensure they had everything needed for detail photos. The florist was already onsite, which made her my next contact. She had the reception tables perfectly finished by the time I arrived, and florals were provided for the photographer to use for details. The men eventually arrived onsite, and Cody got dressed with the help of his Best Man. During this time, Cody read his letter from Micayla, holding back the tears from her sweet words. After checking to make sure everything was flowing and on schedule, I made my way up to the venue’s bridal loft.
Micayla and her bridesmaids began the day getting ready upstairs inside the venue’s bridal suite. The ladies wore matching navy pajamas, sipping on champagne, and enjoying the morning with makeup and hair applications. There was plenty of buzz in the loft, and the energy was calm and excited. Once the beauty team had finished (and a bit early, I might add - thanks wedding day schedules!), it was time for Micayla to dress. Micayla’s mother helped her get into her beautiful beaded gown and cathedral-length veil. All of her jewelry came from our local favorite jeweler, Buchroeder’s. Micayla was a stunning, bombshell bride who was simply glowing.
The next point in the timeline was to help setup the First Look with Dad and goodness, it was sweet and emotional. Good thing Micayla had purchased handkerchiefs. After drying some tears, Micayla gifted her parents and Cody’s parents with a few mementos as a thank you for their support and encouragement. The next step was to hop on the party bus and travel to the Governor’s Garden for the First Look with the Groom. Our team made sure the crew had everything they needed for the First Look including the bride’s bouquet, purse, and gifts.
Once Micayla’s dress was fluffed and set, it was time for the groom to see his bride. I love the reaction from Cody; he was totally smiling from ear to ear. Spending any time with these two during photos, you can easily tell that they mean serious business when it comes to love. It isn’t just a word, it is a deep emotion and bond these two share with each other. They have such amazing natural chemistry. After several portraits together, the couple took portraits with their wedding party and their families.
It was a bit of a crazy day coordinating the portraits because of the multiple locations, wedding party size, and some unforeseen events happening such as a protest at the Capitol and high school kids taking photos for prom. However, I delegated two team members to assist with this coordination, ensuring no detail was missed and making sure everyone was accounted for so we could press ahead with the schedule. I’m so proud of the team for doing an amazing job!
It was close to the ceremony time, so our team quickly got everyone lined up. As Micayla walked down the aisle, Cody tried to maintain his overwhelming emotions. They held hands, laughed, and smiled at each other so much during the ceremony. They both read heartfelt handwritten vows to one another, a personal favorite choice from our team! They sealed the ceremony with a romantic kiss. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour while the wedding party cruised around on the party bus for a bit. It was finally time for them to enter the reception! The DJ announced everyone in and guests rose to their feet cheering and applauding as the new Mr. & Mrs. Gammon cheerfully made their grand entrance!
As the reception progressed, the couple surprised everyone with a huge announcement. They had actually gotten married in November of 2021, nearly a year and a half before the wedding. Guests and family were shocked because they had kept this secret from almost everyone. I was told that the couple was not good at keeping secrets, which added to the shock and excitement of the announcement. The rest of the reception was spent with plenty of dancing and upbeat conversations; it was truly a magical celebration, and we were honored to be part of such a joyful marriage celebration.
Our team assisted Micayla and Cody with timeline development + coordination, layout + event flow design, attendance at a final walkthrough, vendor coordination, ceremony rehearsal management, and wedding day management + coordination.
