Kamry + Connor’s Mini Celebration

If you’ve been keeping up with Plan it Terra’s fall 2019 couples, you’ll know that Kamry and Connor had a beautiful wedding celebration in September. About two weeks prior to the hustle of their wedding week, I received a heartfelt email from the bride requesting some help to put together a thoughtful, but sweet gathering for her immediate family. This gathering was designed as an opportunity to prepare and bless Connor and Kamry’s wedding while in the loving presence of her sweet Granny. Yes, that’s Kamry’s grandma!

I enlisted the help of a photographer (my wonderful husband, Ben!), and met up with Kamry, Connor, and some family at Granny’s nursing home that Friday evening. Completely dressed up in their wedding day attire including bouquet and boutonniere, Kamry’s father escorted her down the aisle of the nursing home’s chapel. Pastor Mueller provided a brief but thoughtful message and prayed a blessing over the couple as they prepared for marriage. Immediately following, Ben took family photos and captured joyful moments of being with those we love dearly.

You may be asking why did we do this mini celebration? Kamry was unsure if Granny would attend her actual wedding, and she wanted to ensure that her grandmother had the chance to celebrate her marriage. In fact, Kamry is her Granny’s only grandchild, so it was incredibly important for her grandmother to be part of her wedding.

I know for some it is taboo for the couple to see each other in their wedding attire prior to the wedding ceremony (hello First Looks), but I highly encourage other couples to consider the immeasurable amount of joy it brings to ditch some wedding traditions/etiquette and focus on spending time and creating memories with the people are in our lives that matter most especially when our loved ones will not be with us forever.

Missouri Wedding Planner, Coordinator

Hi, I’m Terra!

Founder of Plan it Terra

Born and raised in Missouri, I’m a grateful wife and dog mom to my rescue pups, Hildi and Lola. I’m a true believer in the pursuit of bold dreams, learning from mistakes, offering joy, and staying curious.

I'm a girl that lives in her Chacos during the summer, and I'm typically always wearing lipstick. Yes, red is my preference! When I'm not helping engaged couples plan weddings, you'll find me on stage teaching Jazzercise classes. Needless to say, creating engaging experiences that leave people feeling good afterwards is my passion. Seriously!

I’ve created this blog and my wedding packages to empower you to plan an awesome wedding day and put all of the stress and obligations straight into the dumpster! Now that sounds like a party.
