Texas Engagement | Amanda + Alec
I first spoke with Amanda and Alec right at the beginning of the year, and we had ourselves a casual Zoom date to chat about their upcoming wedding slated for September of this year. I quickly hit it off with this down-to-earth and fun couple, getting super excited to chat with them about the gorgeous, intimate and bohemian wedding they were dreaming up. Living in Texas and only having a few vendors booked, these two were looking for someone who could guide them in their wedding planning and taking their vision and putting it into reality. I am very much looking forward to celebrating their wedding at Wildcliff Events, located in Blackwater, Missouri this September! It is going to be such a beautiful occasion.
To learn more about why they chose their wedding venue and to read some of their advice for newly engaged couples, be sure to keep scrolling down.
Our team has been busy leading planning meetings, sourcing vendors, and organizing all of the logistics. We’re excited to finish up their timeline, finalize decor orders, and so much more. Many thanks to Jason Smelser Photography for sharing these images with our team; you captured these sweet spirits perfectly.
Tell me about how you and alec met.
We met at our community college in a Philosophy class. I tried to ignore Alec for a while, but he was persistent and I finally caved!
Who proposed? Tell me about it!
Alec proposed to me at Ha Ha Tonka on Lake of the Ozarks on the Fourth of July. I grew up going to this lake with my family (it's my favorite place to be!) We were visiting my grandma for the Fourth of July. He proposed in front of my parents and grandma with a pretty view of the lake!
How did you pick your wedding venue?
I visited many venues in Texas - they were beautiful. But I came across Wildcliff on the internet and couldn't get the view out of my mind. I compared everything to it. My family also lives there and it makes it easier for them to come when they might not have been able to otherwise.
How did you find all of your vendors?
Either from the Venue or from you (Plan it Terra)!
So far, what aspect of planning has been the most enjoyable?
Getting to go dress shopping with some bridesmaids!
Do you have any advice for recently engaged couples?
Trust that your planner will take care of you and know that in the end - all that matters is that you get to marry the one you love!
What are you most excited about for the day of the wedding?
Getting to see family and friends I don't see often. Also getting to see Alec as I walk down the aisle and hear his vows!!
what are three words to describe the feel of your upcoming wedding?
Inviting, fun, and relaxed.
What made you decide to hire a planner?
I don't live in Missouri and I don't have enough time with work! I used to be a planning assistant, and I saw how much went into it.
Hey, I’m Terra!
Born and raised in Missouri, I’m a grateful wife and dog mom to my rescue pups, Hildi & Lola. I’m a true believer in the pursuit of bold dreams, learning from mistakes, and staying curious.
I'm a girl that lives in her Chacos during the summer, and I'm typically always wearing lipstick. Yes, red is my preference! When I'm not helping engaged couples plan weddings, you'll find me on stage teaching Jazzercise classes. Needless to say, creating engaging experiences that leave people feeling good afterwards is my passion. Seriously!
I’ve created this blog and my wedding packages to empower you to plan an awesome wedding day and put all of the stress and obligations straight into the dumpster! Now that sounds like a party.
