Mikayla + Shane | An Edgy Wedding at Sons & Daughters Venue

Mikayla and Shane are two of the biggest sweethearts, busy with their jobs in the Saint Louis area. After they got engaged, they looked for the perfect venue to celebrate their marriage. The couple looked everywhere in Saint Louis, but ended up taking a little road trip to Rolla to tour Sons & Daughters. This new wedding venue ended up being the perfect place for their edgy wedding.
While Mikayla and Shane were on top of all things related to planning, they knew that hiring a planner would be critically important to the overall enjoyment of their day. Here’s what Mikayla had to say about hiring us, “We get overwhelmed easily and our friend strongly suggested getting at least a day of wedding coordinator. Very happy with our decision to reach out to you guys!”
Mikayla and Shane celebrated their union at Sons & Daughters, a modern wedding venue located in Rolla, Missouri. Their ceremony was held upstairs inside the venue’s all white ceremony space. A modern, edgy reception followed downstairs in the venue’s contemporary event space.
WE ASKED MIkayla, “WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE TO WORK WITH PLAN IT TERRA? WHY DID THAT MATTER TO YOU?”
“Seeing that you had been to our venue before and knew the owners of the venue! Once I looked you up on social media I was drawn in with how professional your Instagram page was and how nice you and your team seemed!”
Mikayla and Shane both got ready with their bridal parties onsite at Sons & Daughters. The bridal suite area provided the best lighting for Grae Marie Photography to capture stunning portraits of Mikayla in her bridal gown. Mikayla looked like a model straight out of “Vogue” magazine. The bride and groom opted to not see each other prior to the ceremony, so the early afternoon was spent separately taking photos with their wedding day attendants.
Prior to the start of the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a celebratory shot as they prepared to exchange their vows in front of their family and friends.
Shane could not hold back the big smiles and tears as he first saw Mikayla walking down the aisle escorted by her father. The all-white ceremony space looked stunning with the large installation designed by Blissful Blooms with Becky. The pink backdrop popped against the walls, and the floral free-standing pieces were absolutely stunning.
After the ceremony, the couple took family photos, complete bridal party photos, and portraits around the venue. Grae Marie Photography had plenty of time in the timeline to get really creative with her editorial portraits, capturing the bride and the groom in their element. While photos happened, guests walked downstairs to enjoy cocktail hour, which had plenty of delicious food and beverages and inviting music provided by High Class DJs.
Before the couple joined their guests at the reception, Mikayla had a quick outfit change. According to Mikayla, she added her party sleeves. A taco bar buffet was ready for guests to enjoy once the couple made their grand entrance. Later in the reception, the couple were honored with a few speeches and danced with some of their loved ones. Of course, the couple had to cut their cake before they could go take some sunset portraits. The rest of the evening was filled with plenty of laughter and lots of dancing.
We provided Month of Coordination services, which included a variety of planning meetings, timeline development, confirming final details with vendors, facilitating the rehearsal, managing their wedding day, and so much more.
